APPROACH TO GOD
(we are conscious that we are coming into God’s presence)

Call to Worship

Praise: Hymn 439 See what a Morning

1 See what a morning, gloriously bright with the dawning of hope in Jerusalem; folded the graveclothes, tomb-filled with light as the angels announce Christ is risen! See God’s salvation plan, wrought in love, borne in pain, paid in sacrifice, fulfilled in Christ the man, for He lives; Christ is risen from the dead.

2 See Mary weeping, ‘Where is He laid?’ as in sorrow she turns from the empty tomb; hears a voice speaking, calling her name; it’s the Master, the Lord raised to life again! The voice that spans the years, speaking life, stirring hope, bringing peace to us, will sound till He appears, for He lives; Christ is risen from the dead.

3 One with the Father, Ancient of Days, through the Spirit who clothes faith with certainty, honour and blessing, glory and praise to the King crowned with power and authority! And we are raised with Him, death is dead, love has won, Christ has conquered; and we shall reign with Him, for He lives; Christ is risen from the dead.

Affirmation of Faith: Colossians 1:15-20

We Believe that Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

We Believe Jesus Christ is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

THANKSGIVING
(we thank God for his faithfulness to us)

Praise & Offering: Sing Psalms 24: 7-10

7 You ancient gates, lift up your heads;    you doors, be opened wide—   So may the King of glory come    for ever to abide.

8 But who is this exalted King?    What glorious King is he?   It is the LORD of strength and might,    the LORD of victory.

9 You ancient gates, lift up your heads;    you doors, be opened wide—   So may the King of glory come    for ever to abide.

10 But who is this exalted King?    Who can this sovereign be?   The LORD Almighty, he is King    of glory, none but he.

Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hallelujah,

Amen, Amen, Amen.

Praise: Hymn 209 I am so glad

1 I am so glad that our Father in heaven tells of His love in the book He has given: wonderful things in the Bible I see; this is the dearest, that Jesus loves me.

I am so glad that Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me, Jesus loves me, I am so glad that Jesus loves me, Jesus loves even me.

2 Though I forget Him, and wander away, He’ll always love me wherever I stray; back to His dear loving arms do I flee, when I remember that Jesus loves me.

3 O if there’s only one song I can sing, when in His beauty I see the great King, this shall my song in eternity be, O what a wonder that Jesus loves me.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD
(we respond to the Word of God)

Prayer

Praise: Hymn 442 Thine be the glory

1 Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son, endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won; angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away, kept the folded grave-clothes, where Thy body lay.

Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son, endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won.

2 Lo!  Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb; lovingly He greets us, scatters fear and gloom; let the Church with gladness hymns of triumph sing, for her Lord now liveth; death hath lost its sting.

3 No more we doubt Thee, glorious Prince of Life; life is naught without Thee: aid us in our strife; make us more than conquerors, through Thy deathless love: bring us safe through Jordan to Thy home above.

Benediction
