APPROACH TO GOD
(we are conscious that we are coming into God’s presence)

Call to Worship

Praise: Come O Fount of every blessing

1 Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.

Songs of Gods abundant treasure,
sung by Angel tongues above,
Songs that tell the boundless measure

Of my Lords unchanging love

2 I remember Gods great mercy;

by his help I’ve safely come;
and I know he will not fail me,
but will surely bring me home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering far away from God;
and, to rescue me from danger,
shed for me his precious blood.

3 though Gods grace I am his debtor
daily I this thought renew!
Let thy grace, Lord, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to you:
prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
take my heart, O take and seal it;
seal it form your courts above.

Prayer of Adoration and Confession

Assurance of Pardon

Affirmation of Faith: Colossians 1:15-20

We Believe that Jesus Christ is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

We Believe Jesus Christ is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.

THANKSGIVING
(we thank God for his faithfulness to us)

Praise & Offering: Sing Psalms 126

1 When Zion’s fortunes God restored,    it was a dream come true.  2 Our mouths were then with laughter filled,    our tongues with songs anew.

  The nations said, “The LORD has done    great things for Israel.”  3 The LORD did mighty things for us,    and joy our hearts knew well.

 4 Restore our fortunes, gracious LORD,    like streams in desert soil.  5 A joyful harvest will reward    the weeping sower’s toil.

 6 The man who, bearing seed to sow,    goes out with tears of grief,   Will come again with songs of joy,    bearing his harvest sheaf.

Prayer of Intercession

THE WORD OF GOD
(we hear God’s Word read and preached)

Scripture Reading: Colossians 2: 6-23

Foundations of Faith –      Q 36, 37, 38, 39

Praise: Hymn 488 As the deer

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

I want You more than gold or silver
Only You can satisfy
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

Sermon

RESPONSE TO THE WORD
(we respond to the Word of God)

Prayer

Praise: You’re the word of God the Father

You’re the Word of God the Father
from before the world began;
every star and every planet
has been fashioned by your hand.
All creation holds together
by the power of your voice.
Let the skies declare your glory,
let the land and seas rejoice!

You’re the Author of creation,
you’re the Lord of every man
and your cry of love rings out across the lands.

Yet you left the gaze of angels,
came to seek and save the lost,
and exchanged the joy of Heaven
for the anguish of a cross.
With a prayer you fed the hungry,
with a word you stilled the sea,
yet how silently you suffered
that the guilty may go free.

With a shout you rose victorious
wresting victory from the grave,
and ascended into Heaven
leading captives in your way.
Now you stand before the Father
interceding for your own;
from each tribe and tongue and nation
you are leading sinners home.

Benediction
